KINGS COURT THE VICTOR Captures Canadian-Bred Race at Kenilworth Park. Ambroses Riding a Feature of Afternoons Racing Sagamore "Wins for J. Arthur. WINDSOR, Ont, October 2. Small but well-balanced fields went to the post in a majority of the races at Kenilworth this afternoon and while quality was not lacking good contests were in order. The first four races were at sprinting distances, three at five and a half furlongs and in the last three horses that fancied going a longer route were given an opportunity. The fifth race, a dash of a mile and a sixteenth, was featured. It called for Canadian bred horses and furnished a stirring finish, in which the Seagram racer Kings Court, under a rousing finish, beat the Kenton Stables Dellahm by a neck. Ambrose had the mount on the winner and he also scored in the first and fourth races when he landed Ciceronian and Lancelot home in front. Kings Court marked a double for the Seagram stable, the imported colt Ciceronian winning the opening dash for the Canadian sportsman. Both of the Seagram horses led all the way. James Arthur scored his first victory in some time when his useful sprinter Sagamore beat a band of platers in the second race. Sagamore was ridden by Abel, an apprentice that Arthur is developing to take the place of "Chick" Lang. Sagamore showed keen speed in his race this afternoon and beat his opponent by a good margin. Incidentally it was Abels first winning mount The lad rode the horse well and it is doubtful if even Lang could have done any better. Fair Lavana proved a surprise when she won the third from a big band of two-year-olds. There were twelve starters and Fair Lavana came from behind and beat the favorite Fitzrue by a length. Todays attendance was large and speculation brisk. A. C. Niehaus leaves for New York at" the conclusion of the meeting, where he will make an effort to secure two or three horses to strengthen his stable. The Niehaus string will be in the consignment that leaves the Empire track for Havana. Niehaus reports that "Wild Flower, which he is handling for A. L. Briggs, suffered a long deep gash as a result of a kick while at the post in her last start at "Woodbine. It required eleven stitches to sew the cut up and the mare will be an absentee from the races for some time. Niehaus disposed of the contract he held on jockey H. Brydges to R. Mackenzie. NIEDLAUS WINTER PLANS. Smart Guy was ordered withdrawn from the fourth race on account of a change in ownership. The horse was entered by W. A. Spooner, and afterwards sold to A. S. Eastman. There is a rule of the Canadian Racing Assocaition which stipulates that if a horse is entered in a race and sold he is ineligible to start in that race. John Payne, who is interested in the ownership of the horses which race in the name of the Kenton Stable, was an arrival from Kentucky. Bennie Falk received his membership card from the Illinois Jockey Club and has arranged to take in a couple of days racing at the Chicago track. Sans Peur II. came out of his race on Saturday in bad condition and it is doubtful if his owner will be able to get him to the post again. The horse was jumped on during the running of the race and had the cap on the joint of his hock split. McKinney is making an effort to save him, but the case looks like a hopeless one. TO RIDE FOR KENTON STABLE. Jockey McTaggart was an arrival from Baltimore and was immedately signed up to ride for the Kenton Stable for the remainder of the meeting. C. F. Clark got in from Chicago and brings back flattering reports of the race meeting at Hawthorne. He will ship his racer Ogar-ite from here to Chicago at the close of the Kenilworth meeting. Great Hawk developed lameness after being galloped this morning and was excused by the stewards from starting in the sixth race. Edward Seagram and a party of friends are here from "Waterloo taking in the races. Jockey J. OBrien, who has been here all summer galloping the horses in the stable of J. G. Wagnon, will make an effort to have the stewards of the Canadian Racing Associations reconsider their action in regard to having his licenses taken upt
