TRIBUNE raced close up from the start and passed the leader at the eighth post into a good lead, but was ridden out at the end. TARASCON responded gamely when called on and headed the tiring CICERONIAN in the final strides. The latter showed much speed in the going and, passing ASSYRIAN QUEEN, raced into a good lead, but tired badly in the last eighth. ARCTIC KING finished well. ABLAZE, a fast beginner, set a fast pace to the going, but could not withstand the winners challenge. MADELINE LILLIAN showed much speed in the going and made a game finish. SAGAMORE began sluggishly and could never improve his position. WAR TANK tired. The others ran poorly. FORNOVO raced wide while rounding the first turn, but finished gamely in the middle of the track and outstayed ROUEN. The iatter raced on the inside in the heaviest going, but finished fast and gamely. ON HIGH tired after going three-quarters.
