SET DATE FOR KINGS PLATE Canadas Most Famous Race to Be BeRun Run at Woodbine Park on onSaturday Saturday May 19 TORONTO Ont March 17 The an ¬ nouncement of the list of stakes which close on Monday April 2 made by the Ontario Jockey Club sets at rest any misgivings concerning a possible suspension of racing at Woodbine Park this year yearOf Of these stakes the feature of course is the Kings Plate which has the distinction of being the oldest fixture run continuously on the North American continent The race run over the mile and a quarter course is scheduled for May 19 the opening day of the sevenday meeting1 and is for three yearolds and over foaled raised and trained in the Province of Ontario that have never won a race either on the Hat or crosscoun ¬ try other than a race exclusively for two yearolds have never left Canada and have never been for a period of more than one month out of the Province of Ontario Fifty guineas is donated by His Majesty the King with 10000 added by the Ontario Jockey Club ClubOther Other stakes closing on April 2 are the Stanley Produce with 4000 added for Dominionbred foals of this year to be run as threeyearolds in 192G as the Ontario Jockey Club may direct probably at the autumn meeting over a mile and a quarter course the Breeders Stakes with 3000 added for threeyearolds foaled in the Dominion of Canada to be run during 1924 over a mile and an eighth course as the Ontario Jockey Club may direct but probably at the spring meeting and the Maple Leaf Stakes with 3000 added for threeyear old fillies foaled in Canada and Canadian owned at time of starting to be run next year over the mile and a sixteenth course courseAll All of these stakes are intended to offer direct encouragement to Canadian bloodstock breeders
