TIPPITY WITCHET AT BOWIE Popular Racer Training for the 5000 Inaugural Handicap Good Riding Material for Approaching1 Prince PrinceGeorge George Park Meeting W P Burch BurchThinks Thinks Well of Witticism BALTIMORE Mel March 17 A Bowie meeting without the participation of Tippity Witchet would not have the aspect of a regular meeting The coming Bowie spring meeting April 2 to 1t inclusive will be regular because Tippity Witchet has come up from New Orleans in the string of L T Bauer of Baton Rouge and begun his course of training for the 3000 Inaugural Handicap a race at seveneighths that will be tli3 opening days feature Tippity is as i g as life and twice as natural Always at home in the Bowie going in which he won the opening race of 1917 his first attempt under silks he is working briskly and will be ready With the possible exception of Super which Buck Forman wintered at Bowie and is high in flesh but almost ready for the colors nevertheless Tippity Witchet is the fittest horse at Prince George Park Biff Bang which raced through the better part of the winter at New Orleans with Tippity Witchct is his most formidable sta ¬ ble companion now and he also looks ready readyWHITNEY WHITNEY STABLE 1UDEHS 1UDEHSToung Toung J Thomas and the more widely o perienced Penman will do the riding of the stable of Harry Payne Whitney at Bowie during the coming spring metling McAc is with the stable but he will be wanted at Brookdale Farm by James Howe Fred Hopkins who is training at Benning the division of the Whitney string that will make the Bowie meeting will have Penman and Thomas in charge chargeIf If J F Schorr races anything under the silks of Edvard Beale McLean at Bowie Josiah will do his riding Josiah is now at Eenning and in excellent condition Matt Brady who will have four or five of Joseph E Davis horses ready for the colors on April 1 will use Josiah when Schorr is not employing him himPreston Preston M Burch will depend on Parke to handle the horses of the stable of George Wingfield and Parke will ride also for Selby L Burch who will have six two and threeyearolds going Parke was not in par ¬ ticularly good form last year but the Burches are hopeful that his winters experience at Tijuana may have improved him Selby Burch will have in charge his fathers light ¬ weight McLane Chick Lang who belongs to the Cosden stable which came up to Pim lico the other day from Virginia will oper Continucd ou tenth page TIPPITY WITCHET AT BOWIE Continued from first page nee Clarence Kummer the other Cosden jockey has not said whether he will take part in the Bowie meeting or not but if he does it will be as a free agent William Garth does not expect to race any horses before the middle of April The ani ¬ mals he brought up from Virginia are not vet ready for the colors colorsJ J liowan jockey of the stable of Edward F Whitney which is training at Pimlico will ride through the Bowie meeting as a free lance Ponce will ride the horses of A Swenke Abel those of James Arthur Denison those of Buck Forman E Smallwood those of Carey Winfrey and Mein those of Samuel Louis and Mortemer Murphy Kay Spence will tiring Scobic Lunsford Foe and Stutts with the campaigners of the Mont fort Jones string and Albert Johnson will come up from New Orleans with the division of the Kilmer stable William Shields is train ¬ ing Shields will not race anything at Bowie but Johnson will fit himself there for the racing at Havre de Grace and Pimlico PimlicoWitticism Witticism a son of Black Jester and Star flight is the horse of the stable of Samuel Ross the veteran William Preston Buich is training at Benning for the initial running of the 5000 Inaugural Handicap at Prince George Park Bowie on April 2 Mr Burch will not be able to get Admiral Gary T Graysons fouryearold Hea which is train ¬ ing splendidly ready He will not rush Ad ¬ miral Graysons threoyearold Preakness and Kentucky Derby candidate My Own which had to IKS fred on an ankle late last fall for the correction of a lameness developed in the Maryland Futurity FuturityWitticism Witticism is a threeyearold brother of Star Jester a colt Mr Burch developed last winter for Admiral Grayson and sold at Havre de Grace in April Star Jester is a bay Witticism is a brown The two colts are very much alike in conformation and Witticism has shown more speed at Benning than Star Jester did didThe The late William C Eustis of Washington imported Witticism Mr Ross bought the colt after Mr Eustis death on the recom ¬ mendation of Mr Burch After George Wing fields General Thatcher Witticism is the most forward threeyearold at Benning Wittcism has a brown twoyearold brother a colt called Sparkling AVit in the Burch stable but it is not likely that this one will race before the Pimlico meeting If Witti ¬ cism lias a stable running mate in the In ¬ augural it will be McKenna McKenna be ¬ longs to Mr Burch
