HISTORIC LATONIA CUP Six Named for Valuable Long Distance Feature to Be Decided This Afternoon. LATONIA, Ky., Oct. 19. An even half dozen long distance performers have been named to contest in Saturdays renewal of the historic Latonia Cup at two miles and a quarter, and while many of the better grade eligibles are absentees, the field is possessed of sufficient quality to insure a sterling contest over the stamina testing distance. II. P. Headleys brilliant five-year-old mare, Chacolet, whose unexpected victory in the Kentucky Special is still fresh in memory, is among those named to start and is asked to concede much weight to all of her opponents. The general belief prevails that the mare can succeed in the task assigned her. Cherry Tree, with only 112 pounds, is the mares most to be feared rival, and will have extensive support. Fancy Free, with only 98 pounds, will be favored by many. Should the track be heavy Tip Toe Inn will stand a royal chance. Fantoche and Marine Corps are conceded only outside chances. The stake has an added money value of 515,000. If all six named go to the post the gross value will be 517,700, of which the winners net portion will be 514,150. In addition, the winning owner will receive a handsome silver trophy. General manager Winn will not be on hand to witness Saturdays stake. He departed Thursday night for New York to be the guest of the Jockey Club at the running of the International race.
