RIDERS IN THE BIG RACE Donoghue and Sande the Best in Their Respective Countries Their Fine Records. It is only befitting that the jockeys, who will ride Papyrus and Zev in todays International race, are the best of their respective countries. Such are Donoghue and Sande. Both have splendid records. Donoghue. has been the leader in Engkvad for the past nine years and again tops the list this year. He has ridden five Epsom Derby winners, three in succession, besides accounting for many other important races of the British turf. Here is his record from 1914 to date, each year finishing at the top of the list: Tear. ilts. Wins. Year. Alts. Wins 1914 ...CDS 129 1919 532 129 1913 ...376 02 1920 ;.G32 143 191G 202 . 43. 1921 694 141 1917 224 42 1922 G16 102 1918 270 G6 1923 501 OS Includes racing of September 8. Sande is younger in years and riding experience than his famous English rival, but has made an enviable record in the short time he has been connected with the sport. While Sande has never headed the list of Amrican jockeys, it is because he has not participated in Winter racing. His real ability as a skillful rider is indicated in the percentage column, at the top of which his name has appeared for the last four years, and will undoubtedly do so again this year. Sande s fine record follows: Tear. Sits. 1st. 2d. 3d. TJnp. P.O.
