HAPPY THOUGHTS-SARAZEN Unbeaten Two-Year-Olds to Meet At Laurel Next Friday for Prize "of 5 000. LAUREL, Md., Oct 22. A special race for a stake of 5,000 has been arranged by the Maryland State Fair between the two unbeaten two-year-olds, Sarazen and Happy Thoughts, to be run at Laurel Park on Friday, Oct. 16, the distance to be three-quarters. Sarazen is to carry US pounds and Happy Thoughts 115 pounds. Max Hirsch, who is training Sarazen for Mrs. William Vanderbilt, acted for the Fair Stable, while J. W. McClelland, who looks after Edward Simms turf interests acted for the Xalapa Farm Stable. The result of this race will decide the championship of the two-year-old division, both having won all of their starts this year. A handsome trophy will be presented to the owner of the winner. There has been a lot of talk as to the respective merits of both Sarazen and Happy Thoughts and the Laurel management is to be congratulated in succeeding in bringing the pair together. After it was announced that the pair would meet Max Hirsch sent a hurried call to New York and engaged jockey Earl Sande, who had the mount on Zev in the great International race run at Belmont Park on Saturday last, to come down to Laurel to ride Sarazen. Andy Schuttinger will have the mount on Happy Thoughts.
