BUSY SCENES AT BENNING Trainers Journey to Old Washington Course to Witness Trials of Yearlings. LAUREL, Md., Oct 22. Sunday was a busy day at the old Benning course, near Washington. There were about seventy-five yearlings quartered there and many of them were given trials by their trainers. One of the best moves shown during the morning was by a filly by Lough Foyle from Miss Minks, owned by Geo. Goodacre, which galloped a quarter in 23. This filly was broken and is being looked after by Sam Higgins, the steeplechase rider, who is also looking after the yearlings that J. W. Bean has at Benning. Other yearlings that were worked were those owned by E. B. McLean, Samuel Ross, the Nevada Stock Farm, the Salubria Stable, the estate of Lewis Garth and J. W. Bean. Jerry Murphy shipped the two-year-olds he is handling for the Parkview Stable to Benning yesterday. Half of the stable that he is occupying lias been set aside for T. J. Donoghue, who will winter the horses he is handling for himself and for Mrs. Ambrose Clark.
