MY OWN AND MY DEAR Brother and Sister Work Well for Their Engagement in Washington Handicap. LAUREL, Md., Oct 23. My Own, which was takn to New York to race against Papyrus in the event that Zev was unable to do so and then brought back to Laural Park without having a chance to show his speed at Belmont Park, proved today that he had not taken cold as was reported yesterday. He was on the track this morning limbering up for the 525,000 Washington Handicap, to be run here on Saturday. He galloped a mile in 1:44 and was in the best of condition at the end of the journey. "There is nothing whatever the matter with My Own," said trainer W. II. Brooks, who had My Own out in the absence of W. P. Burch, who remained at home today. "He has no cold and is not coughing and is expected to start in the big handicap at the end of this meeting." Fred Musantes My Dear, sister to My Own, and another candidate for the Washington Handicap, was also out to work and showed her speed when she went the mile in 1:41, going easy at the end. Both works were over a track that could not be called fast and My Own could have gone much faster had he been asked todo so.
