GRAND AUTUMNAL WEATHER Instrumental in Filling Marlboro Track to Its Capacity, t Mrs. A. E. Alexandra Stable and Jocfeey OMahoney Score Triple Victory Dur Ing Afternoon of Spirited Racing. MARLBORO, Md., Nov. 14. Autumn weather in all its splendor prevailed for the second day of the Southern Maryland Fair Associations meeting. Topcoats were discarded and the picturesque little plant, situated in this historical section of Maryland, was packed almost to suffocation. The strong appeal that racing has on the people was plainly evident today. Transportation facilities over the Pennsylvania are none too good to raise any undue enthusiasm about, but it required sixteen coaches to accommodate the crowd. The same experience was encountered in Washington. The card which was offered furnished some spirited racing throughout the afternoon. The days sport was marred by a fall which occurred in the opening race, which fortunately brought no injuries to horses or riders. P. S. P. Randolphs Dartaway, ridden by Smallwood, was crowded back at the far turn. The filly stumbled and went down. Holmes, on Fehrah, was unable to guide his mount clear and fell over her. The winner turned up in R. T. Wilsons Kirk Dress, an outsider in the wagering, in a hard drive from Norah and Belle Isle. Ina Kay, the eleven-year-old mare, and popular choice in the wagering, was an easy winner of the second race, which was -at six and . a half furlongs. Feodor raced fnto second place, while T. J. Pendergast was third. Care Free racing for Mrs. A. E. Alexandra was returned triumphant in the Zevern Handicap, which featured the afternoons card. E. J. Morrows Tribune raced to second place, while the Hamilton Stables Buddie Kean was third. The winner was ridden by jockey OMahoney and dominated the running from the start. The small field, four in number, left in good alignment, but Buddie Kean was interfered with and dropped back. Through the final eighth Tribune came with a rush and outgamed Buddie Kean in the final drive, but did not seriously menace the winner. The event was under claiming conditions and brought together the best field of the afternoon. Care Free was a pronounced choice and marked his second victory in as many starts. Jockey OMahoney figured in a triple, which he shared with the Mrs. A. E. Alexandra Stable, when he easily guided El Jesmar home a winner in the closing dash. Miracle Man raced to the second while May Roberts was third. The winner came from behind the pace established by Miracle Man and readily drew away. The second success of the A. E. Alexandra stable and jockey OMahoney came when Sling, backed into pronounced favoritism, scored easily in the sixth race, at one mile and twenty yards. Hickory raced to second place, while Katherine Rankin was third.
