WOMAN OWNER SETS A RECORD 1 : Mrs. Payne Whitneys Greentree Stable Finishes Second On List of Amerian Money Winners For the Year 1923 The greatest honors ever achieved by a woman on the turf of any country fell to Mrs. Payne Whitney during the lacing of 1923, when her Greentree Stable finished second on the American money-winning owners list for the year with the substantial sumi of 90, G52 to its credit. This is indeed a wonderful record and the best showing made by that popular racing establishment since its first appearance on the turf. The Greentree Stable of 1923 was a large and diversified one. It embraced some of the best steeplechasers of the year as well as formidable racers on the flat. Its largest winner was the crack colt Rialto, which won four races and 9,3CG. The grand filly Untidy also figured importantly in the success of the stable, as did Tree Top, Cherry Pie, Exodus, Jloonraker, Damask and a host of others. Altogether the Greentree Stable had a string of thirty-three horses and they won fifty-three races, as the following tabulation discloses, the records of each and every horse being I resented: Horse.
