HEAVY TRACK RACING ; Will Be the Order at Fair Grounds , for Next Few Days. Saturday Nights Rain Dissipates . All Hope for More Favorable Conditions. , NEW ORLEANS, La., Jan. 20. Saturday nights copious rain dissipated al hope for favorable track conditions at the Fair Grounds for the next two days at least, and the chances are that those horses -with ability to run well in the heavy going will continue : to have matters their own way for the i greater part of the present weclr. The track : Sunday morning was in horrible condition i and this, combined with the cold and blustering weather, served to restrict training operations, which were confined largely to shed I work. Trainers hurried through their work and took their departure from the track long ; before the usual hour. The Momus Handicap is the next important ; fixture to claim the attention of horsemen and race-goers. It will be the main attraction . of next Saturdays program. This race is for horses three years old and over and is at : one and one-sixteenth miles, with ,000 added . money. It closed Saturday with twenty-one ! nominations which number includes all of ! the better grade of horses in local training that have been figuring extensively in the : handicaps to date. The list embraces De-lante. Dr. Clark, Triumph, Revenge, Lord Granite, Lady Madcap, Solisa, Moonrakcr, Rest Pal, Barracuda, Olynthus, Romany, Restate II., Amole, Guest of Honor, Setting Sun, Sedgefield, Rama. Raffles, Thimble and Bradleys Toney. "Weights are due next Thursday. DERBY HAS 3,000 ADDED. Racing Secretary J. B. Campbell of the Jefferson Parish Fair has announced the conditions for the 5,000 Louisiana Derby, to be run at Jefferson Park March 17. Entry blanks to this stake are now ready for distribution. Ample time for the naming of candidates is provided for, as entries do not close until j February 2. Following are tli e conditions of the stake: The Louisiana Derby 5,000 added, for three-year-olds. By subscription of ?50 each, which shall accompany the nomination. 00 additional to start. With 5,000 added, of which ,000 to second, ,000 to third and 00 to fourth. 126 pounds non-winners of ,500 allowed four pounds. ,000 if non-winners of six races other than selling of 00 each since November 28, 9 pounds, beaten maidens 14 pounds. One mile and an eighth. John Lowe departed Saturday night for Lexington to attend the dispersal sale of the Edward Cebrian thoroughbred interests and also to confer with Frederick Johnson, whose stable he will take over to train after February 1. Mr. Lowe is expected back here Thursday to make arrangements for the turning over to other trainers the horses he has in charge at the local track. During his absence George Land is handling Mr. Lowes stable. HARRINGTON GETS LICENSE. Jockey R. "Doughnuts" Harrington has been granted a riding license by the stew-j ards of the Business Mens Racing Association and ho will start his riding Monday when he will ride Devil Girl. Harrington has been diligently employed all winter in galloping horses for Will Perkins and will ride for that owner during the remainder of the racing season here. I E. J.
