MINSTREL I.OY began well from the outside and. challenging WOODCRY when a sixteenth out, passed him quickly to win going away. AVOODCRY showed a high order of speed in pacemaking, but readily gave way to the winner when challenged. ItUNLEG finished gamely. HERDSMAN, after being caught in a jam at the start and having to be pulled up, closed a big gap in a fast finish. PUBLISHER mil well for a first time out. EDMON is a slow beginner. EMDEN came around on tho outside when turning fcr home, then ran out badly, but finished with a rush close to the outer rail. LITTLE SMILE showed the most early speed, but tired in the final sixteenth. INSURANCE and F. G. CORLEY closed big gaps. BLANCHE MEYERS and PUEBLO tired badly. FREECUTTER dwelt at the start, then struck his stride quickly and, after racing into a clear lead, tired from his extreme early effort. FIREWORTH and CAAMANO closed big gaps. SEA WAY had no mishaps. SOPHIA GOLDMAN set the early pace and ran well for three-quarters. BESSIE YOUNG was hard ridden and ran a had race. CONTUSION began slowly hut moved up gradually and, slipping through a small opening next to the inner rail, received iiowerful riding at the end and got up to win in the last stride. DELL EVANS, after following BOOMERANG closely, made a game finish and ran surprisingly well. BARDALID seemed all over the winner when seventy yards out, hut tired in the final strides. BOOMERANG, as usual, showed the most early speed, hut gave way in the final eighth. BETTY. ALDEN finished fast. BARN DOLLAR showed early speed and quit b:lly.
