OUR BOY was outrun to the stretcli, where he slipped through a small opening on the inside and, finishing with a rush, wore the leaders down to win drawing clear. MY DESTjNY. after showing speed, lost ground by swinging wide when entering the stretch, then finished fast and close up. COCKSURE also lost ground by a wide stretch turn and finished with a rush. LAHONTON made a threatening challenge when an eighth out. SILENT PARDNER and RUNPRESERVE tired badly after alternating in pacemaking to the stretch. MISTAKE raced in closest pursuit of the early pacemaker until after entering the stretch, where he wore him down and, under hard riding, was barely able to withstand the belated rush of OLLIE WOOD. The latter, after being badly outrun, closed a big gap and would have won in another stride. BYRNE showed the most early speed and, when challenged, hung on gamely while tiring. SEVEN SEAS came from far back. MRS. PAT was prominent to the stretch, where she tired. BILLY JOE ran well for three eighths. DEEP THOUGHT jumped Up- in the air at the start, then was buffeted about while rounding the first turn and, after finding a clear course, raced into the lead midway of the stretch, but tired finally. SUPERCARGO made a threatening challenge when turning for home, then swerved to the inner rail and feU back. SUE DONOVAN showed much speed from a slow beginning, but was done at three-quarters.
