Kng., March P.L— Polymelus. twenty-two-year-old stallion, by Cyllene from Maid Marian, by Hampton, was destroyed last week at Maiden Krlegh Stud. Reading, Berkshire. The okl horse had been crippled i with rheumatism for four years and was a pitiful object. Sol Joel paid 1,000 for Polymelus as a yearling in 190.°., but among the victories which the son of Cyllene scored In his colors were the Duke of Tors stakes, the Champion Stakes, and the Cambridgeshire. Polymelus was retired to the stud in T*0S and up to the end of last year his progeny had won o37 races and stakes amounting to mote than H.HMSt. For five years he led the English stallions. The years of his primacy were l.tlt, 19L"., 1920. 1921 and 1921. Among the winners which he sired may be mentioned Iommern. Filinella, Black Jester, Humorist. China, Corcyrs, Birth, Pomme d s | Terre. Cralgangower, Phalaris and Honeg Wood.
