R. I. MILLER ESTABLISHES WELLFINDER STUD HAVRE DE GRACE, Md.. April 19.— R. I. Miller motored over from Washington this afternoon to witness his horses work. He has split up his stable this year, one being in the J. F. Schorr barn, three in Nate Byers String at IJelmont Park and six that he is handling himself. Poland, a three-year-old that he purchased of Sam Hildreth last ear worked three-quarters tli is morning in 1 :15. First half mile in :17-r,. H« is a candidate for the Ir.akn.ss. Spartan is also going well and Welliinder. the pride of the stable, came out of Winter quarters in grand condition. This horse looks better this Spring than at any time in his career and great things are expected of him. Miller plans to breed his good mare Faith to Fair Gain this Spring and then race her until after the Saratoga meeting. He has a most promising apprentice in J. Smallwood. a lad that can do 90 pounds and »■ will do most of the stables riding this year. Smallwood is a particularly bright chap and quite a scholar. He went through the seventh grade this winter and is quite apt or. pedigrees. Last year Miller purchased 120 acres ad-joi J.ig the Edward B. .Mi Loan Farm at Ash-bom, Va.. which he has named the Well-limler Stud and it is here that he will gather together the hand of brood mares he is col-It ning. Peter Paul and Steel Pibs, a couple Of the two- ear-olds in his stable are lit and ready lor the races.
