Keene, general manager of the new Raceland track, was an arrival from Lexington. J. C Gallaher, trainer of Chilhowee. wired to Arthur Johnson in New Y irk to com* here to ride his colt in the Derby and the boy reached here Friday afternoon. Phil T. Chinn, who had been confined to his home in Lexington with a slight illness, arrived imrrsday night to supervise the training of his stable of horses. James J. Marshall, director of the National Horse Show of New York, was among Fridays arrivals. Senator J. W. Bailey also gut in Friday. Wilson Williams, vice-president of the Business Mens Racing Association of New Orleans, arrived Friday for the Derby. J. J. Voekel was another arrival from the Crescent City. August A. Bush of St. Lous has on exhibition in the Churchill Downs stable inclo-sure two of the latest types of horse vans. They are grotesquely decorated and are the objects of much curiosity. Arthur Board, owner of Bourbon Boy, decided at the last moment not to name hie colt for the Derby, owing to the fact that he could not secure the services of a first-class rider.
