1 1 1 I , , • • ! i r I WOODBINE STEEPLECHASE COURSE IMPROVED TORONTO, Ont., June IS.— Following the close of the spring meeting at Woodbine Park, the infield was turned over to a force of men under a landscap engineer. The steeplechase course on the back stretch anJ around the far turn was built up with line grade loam and so constructed to afford per-I feet drainage. On top of this a thick heavy sod was placed which now makes it one of the most ideal steeplechase courses on this continent, ihe club felt that it waa a hard-I ship to owners of steeplechasers to ship their horses to Woodbine and then in case of inclement weather to be unable to start them. The reconstruction of the course now makes it perfectly safe, no matter how hard it may rain. Other improvements are to b« made to the plant.
