Princess Doreens Blood Lines NEW YORK, N. Y., June 21. — The triumph of Princess Doreen in the Coaching Club American Oaks in the colors of the Audley Stud Farm Stable was achieved so handsomely that breeders who are eager to knew the blood lines responsible for the winners of the turf classics will find it worth while studying her extended pedigree. She was bred by John E. Madden, who sold her dam, Lady Doreen, by Ogden, to Louis Winans of England, who had previously bought her brother Sir Martin to win the Epsom Derby — a race he had at his mercy when he fell at Tattenham Corner. Mr. Madden subsequently bought both Sir Martin and Lady Doreen and brought them to Hamburg Place. The mare was sold in foal to Man o War to the Messrs. Jones and she is now a valued member of the brood mare farm at Audley Stud in Virginia. I ady Sterling, the second dam of Princess Doreen, produced another first-class horse in Sir Barton. She was by Hanover and was raced by Father Bill Daly. Spanish Prince, the sire of Princess Doreen was a fast horse by Ugly, a son cf Minting, winner of the Grand Prix. He traces twice to Little Agnes, once to Lord Lyon, Dollar, Newminster, Hampton and Stockwell. He won sixteen races, including the Victoria Cup, in which he beat Whisk Broom II., the July Cup twice, Rous Memorial and King George Stakes. When mated with lady Doreen, a sister to Sir Martin and half sister to Sir Barton — both good horses — he got a stayer and it will be interesting to note how she fares with the colts in the tests for three-year-olds that remain to bs decided this year. She took up her weight and won the Coaching Club American Oaks with her ears pricked like a real good mare.
