! | LATEST RIDING SENSATION Record of Johnny Maiben, Reigning Lightweight Star on the the New York Tracks. Johnny Maiben, the present lightweight riding sensation of the New York meetings, is another boy from the West who has joined the ranks of the star race riders of the American turf. Earl Sande, Ivan Parke and the Fator brothers are the others who have blazed their names in enduring fame in the annals of turf history in the United States. Maiben is the type of boy who deserves the success which is his after four brief years as a jockey. A week rarely passes that his mother in Garfield, Utah, does not receive at least three letters from her son in New York. He is quiet and unassuming and success will have no effect on him. . He joined the ranks of the jockeys at a time in life when others have difficulty in keeping down their weight It goes without saying that Garfield, Utah, to the last person, eagerly watch the reports for the news of "Johnnys" riding exploits. His stake victories this year include the Brooklyn Handicap, Broadway and Clover Stakes, Ladies Handicap, Cof-froth Consolation and the Tijuana Cup Handicap.
