The running of the Chicago Special of 5,000 on August 23 is coming in for widespread interest and present indications are that a field of great merit will strive for the handsome .prize. The list cf entries will include some of the most prominent horses in the country and, with at least six starters in the race, it will afford Chicagoans a splendid opportuntiy to view a great contest. Giblon has fully recovered from his injury in the Derby and seems better than ever. Wednesday morning he worked a mile in 1:41 Vg over a dull track and the work was accepted as a phenomenal trial under the track conditions. The colt will run in the Special and then be shipped to Belmont. Park for the Lawrence Realization, at one mile and five-eighths. The crack filly Glide, owned by Harned Bros. and Jones" is also back in good form and Will be a starter in the third race Thursday. She is a certain starter in the Special and her performance in the Kentucky Oaks will give her a big following. Billy Myer, who is at Saratoga, wired that Sam.Hildreth had entered Mad Hatter, Thunderclap, Bracadale, Mad Play and Stanwix in the Special and also in the Labor Day Handicap. It is possible that some of the horses shipped here for the event will be left over to run in the Labor Day Handicap, which has ,000- added. Myer also wired that E. R. Bradley had entered Bob Tail in the Special and the Labor Day Handicap. A special effort is being made to get Mrs. Vanderbilt to ship Sarazen here for the race. The gelding is not eligible for the eastern international races on account cf being a gelding. Sarazen won his first race at Hawthorne and the Chicago public is eager to see him again. . 4 .
