Twenty Years Ago Today Chief Turf Events of Aug. 31, 1904 Racing at Coney Island, Harlem, Highland Park, Detroit, and Fair Grounds at St. Louis. Albert Franklin, part owner and trainer of the great western celt Oiseau died at Sheeps-head Bay today of typhoid fever.. At todays auction sale of Adolph Sprockets California yearlings in the Sheepshead Bay paddock remarkably good prices were realized and H. B. Duryaa, A. J. Joyner, S. Paget, : Newton Pennington and Sam Hildrelh were among the prominent and successful buyers. The consignment of twenty head was sold for 6,100, an average of ,305. Individually they were a grand lot of youngsters, those by the recently imported and untried English sires Solitaire and Marius being the most eagerly sought for. S. C. Hildreth, who will start for Chicago next Monday, secured bargains in the " Marius Alma Dale and the Marius Pretense i celts for 00 and 450 respectively. .
