S. N. HOLMANS JUST DAVID First in Detroit Handicap, the Feature at Kenilworth. Claim of Eoul Against "Winner Not Allowed Immense Crowd in Attendance. "WINDSOR. Ont., Aug. 30. Eight horses paraded to the post for the fifth and feature race, namely, the Detroit Handicap. Just David, carrying the silks of S. N. Holman was the winner, a length and a Half ahead of Clarence Buxtons Missionary, which beat Nancy Langhorne by a head for second place. Best Pal was fourth. Dr. OMara, Roseate II., Thomasine and Grace Mayers were the other starters. An immense crowd wTas on hand to view the racing and it is apparent that the people are manifesting added interest with the closing days of racing in this vicinity. The Kenilworth plant should be taxed to capacity for the remainder of the meeting, as it will be a year before they race in these parts again. Wallace lost no time sending the bay son of Atwcll to the front and he ran the distance in 1:121, which equals the track record made by Commander Ross New Hampshire. Missionary, which was given a miserable ride by Buxtcn, who had his mount in trouble several times, was second, while Nancy Langhorne, which had raced in a forward position all the way, was third. Best Pal raced good to the stretch turn, where he retired and just lasted for fourth money. Dr. OMara closed an immense gap after racing in the rear all the way. Buxton lodged a claim of foul against the winner, but it was not allowed. The second race on the program, a seven-eighth dash for Canadian breds, was won by C. "W. Halls Chief Sponsor, which Avas installed favorite, and rewarded the talent by winning easily from the Kenton Stables Thorny "Way, with A. J. Sansones June Fly taking the third money from Bengore. Wallace sent Chief Sponsor right to the front and made every post a winning one. Ben-gore followed the flying leader until an eighth out, where he tired and gave up the chase. Thorny Way, which had been running third, came up to contention but was not equal to the task. It was jockey Woods vigorous ride that landed June Fly third. . The third race brought out a fair bunch of sprinters. The result was something of a surprise when S. N. Holmans Last One was winner over M. Goodpastors Clem Theisen, which beat the Kenton Stable mare, Speedy Girl, a head for second place. A poor lot made up the field for the fourth race on the program of which Cote dOr, the favorite, carrying the silks of the Kenton Stable to victory under a well judged ride by Church. iII.E.jBilsons Dr. Mayer raced to second place, a head in front of W. M. Cains Dustproof who beat Peter Lee three lengths for third money. The sixth, a sprint, a seven-eighths claiming event, was won by S. N. Holmans new acquisition, Stage Coach, winning easily from Mali Jong, carrying the colors of E. Cebrian, with E. W. Moores Phil Mayers third, a half length in front of Anne. This was the third victory for the Holman establishment and four winners for Jockey Wallace.
