FIRST OF MACOMBER SALES Twenty-Six Head Bring a Total of 2,800 California Breeder Big Purchaser. NFW YORK, N. Y., Sept 11. The first day of the sale of the imported mares and yearlings consigned by A. K. Macomber was held in the Belmont Park paddock this afternoon under the auspices of the Thoroughbred Sales Company with George Bain acting as auctioneer. A large crowd was on hand to witness the auction and on the whole the bidding was brisk. The Mira Monte Stock Farm of California and the Hamilton Stock Farm were liberal purchasers and secured several of the selected lots. A total of 2,800 for twenty-six head was realized.
