In the last few strides the gelding put the filly away. Hermidale saved ground 24 all the Avay and saved third money. 24 GREENTREE STABLE "VICTORY. U 03 Jolly Roger from the Greentree Stable, won o. the opening dash. White Marsh finished sec- 24 ond to the son of Pennant in a race at three-quarters that was restricted to maiden two- 24 year-olds. Ausmar was third at the end after racing with the leaders from the start but tiring right at the end. , After- Coltiletti had won in the Greentree m silks in the opening race B. Haynes .donned them and brought in another purse -with Al Fresco in the succeeding race, the Roysterer Steeplechase. Al Fresco won it without being fully extended. Oyster Bed stood a drive gamely to finish within a length and a frj half of the winner. Jericho was third at jn the end of the two miles. Galopin made the pace under sufference for nearly a turn of the field after which Al Fresco took up "W the running. Oyster Bed was running with his mouth wide, open to the second turn of the 2; field but could not get to the leader when . 2 called on. Al Fresco was well under restraint at the end. 2 The Greentree Stable believed that it had I 2 another winner in the third in which the . 2 silks were carried by Broomster but the son l of Broomstick was not in the money at the ! 2; end of the three-quarters. New Hampshire was at the head of the procession as the ! 2 judges got in their work. The J. K. L. Ross representative was three-quarters of a 1 2 length in front of Nancy Langhorne. Bon-taud beat the others. New Hampshire be- - 2 gan fast under alert riding of Pete Walls. 2 Mary Rose and Joy Smoke took turns setting , 2 the pace. The latter replaced the former r rounding the turn and drew away into a 1 clear lead between calls but had little left t after turning into the stretch. New Hamp- shire took the lead in the final eighth and won handily. Nancy Langhorne came with a rush in the stretch and was going fastest of all at the end. JUNE FLY IX FRONT. June Fly won the sixth for the account of A. J. Sansone. She went to the front near- f ing the" stretch turn and won by three lengths h lie as R. Fisher pleased. Thornton held on s; gamely under punishment for second money, d Beau of the West went to the lirst turn in p front. Thornton ran to the outside fence, s but recovered quickly and tcok the lead in t the rear stretch. He showed the way until Fisher passed to the outside of him with the winner. n L. Lang rode his second winner of the afternoon in the seventh-. He had the leg on Wood Lady, from the stable of R. F. Carman. n The daughter of Honeywcod was rated behind Arragosa, while the former galloped along easily in front and wore the Cain color- 1 bearer down in the closing strides to win r going away by half a length. Arragosa held I on for secend money, a length and a half in 1 i: is front of Yoshimi. r Lieutenant II. carried the silks of R. E. Potts to victory over AVar Man in the fifth r contest bn the days card. Tan Son finished two lengths behind the winner and a length l and a half in front of Isosceles, the other I starter. Lang rode the winner. a
