EASY FOR LADY FOX t Takes the Principal Offering at Aurora Thursday i Glanmore Shows Reversal of Form.. Rocky Mountain in Strenuous Finish. c I AURORA. 111., Sept. 25 The Midnight Frolics Purse, at three-quarters, for three- s year-olds exclusively was the feature on Thursdays card at the Fox Valley Business Mens track. The attendance was in keeping I with the other days of this week and the patrons were greeted by summerlike weather and a track that was lightning fast. c W. C. "Weants Lady Fox, breaking the s track record, was the winner of the feature c in easy fashion from Mrs, A. F. Daytons Doc Horn and creamer, carrying the silks of the Bcnaventure Stable, was the one to i be third. The race was between the first 1 three horses at all times. i Boganowski, alert at the barrier, was off 1 in front and sent the black daughter of Moss 1 Fox Bachelors Blend into a good lead that she retained from the start to finish. Doc 1 Horn, which was installed an edds-on favorite, forced the pace all the way, but it is i apparent that he is not as good as he was, for he did his best, but was no match for the winner at any part of the race. He was best of the others that finished in his wake. The opening race, a five and a half furlong dash, saw nine ordinary platers try con- 1 elusions. Bayonet, which was soundly beaten in his last start with jockey Eaton up, showed vast improvement with the veteran N. Bur- ger in the saddle. He was backed extensively 1 by those on the inside and made good winning by a length from Virgo, which made 1 up an immense gap from a slow beginning. I Lee Enfield was third. 1 AUSPICIOUS BEGIJfSlITG. ! The second, race brought about a good finish when Prancing Prince, a first-time starter and confidently backed was the win- ner by a nose from "W. C. Deants Diomed, which was making his first appearance since the Hawthorne meeting and Whalebone was the one to be third. Brown Rock was installed the favorite but failed to get any part of the purse after racing prominently for a half mile. Little Andy and Consort, the other two starters, were never in a; contending position. The third race at three-quarters fell to Parnell after a hard stretch drive with Winnie OWynn, a long shot from the stable of Mrs. C. Lawrence. Bruneth, another one neglected in the betting, raced to third place. Idle Seth, which has been showing good consistent form since the meeting opened, founa the distance too far but quit a little sooner than expected. His race was a very bad one in every respect, finishing absolutely last Ho was an equal favorite with Tangara, another one which showed a very indifferent performance. HASTY MISS MESSED ABOUT. Glanmore, showing a vast improvement over his last race, when he was heavily backed in the colors of Mose Lowenstein and ridden by N. Barrett, was winner of the fifth race, at a mile and a sixteenth, in easy fashion. Hasty Miss, the heavily supported first choice, was the one to be second, with Harry Maxim getting the short end of the purse. Glanmore did not race in the rear today as he did in his previous race. He laid up close to tne pacemaker today and easily tock the lead when called on. Hasty Miss, which was badly messed about by her inexperienced rider, lost quite a bit of ground at the head of the stretch when she came to the middle of the track and would have been the winner with a more competent rider. Harry Maxim closed a good gap to be third after Lothair quit. The concluding race fell to the heavily supported favorite Rocky Mountain after a strenuous stretch struggle, with Billy Star second and St. Martins, the long shot of the race, third. The start was a good one and Rocky Mountain was the cne to show the way around the first turn, Billy Star and Wong Bok leading St. Martins and Belle Amie, which was a distant last. At the" three-sixteenths post Billy Star took a brief lead, but Rocky Mountain was not to be denied. It was a ding dong finish, the winner not being known until the official numbers were posted. Rocky Mountain was awarded the decision by the narrowest of margins. V S. W. Richards, whom it was reported hadj bought the contract on Jockey J. Cormier from C. Koerner, has failed to makKopl the purchase price, therefore all negotiations have been called off and Gormley will remain in the employ of C. Koerner. Joclcy Montgomery broke his shoulder this morning when he was thrown from a horse lie was exercising and was taken to the hospital. Bobby Gonzales is authorized agent for W. J. Potter. He is also handling the book of the promising apprentice boy V. Moore.
