FORECASTER began slowly and was outrun to the stretch turn, where he wore down the pacemaker and, finishing with fine speed, drew away into a long lead in the last eighth. MAJOR FINLEY, a forward contender from the start, weakened under punishment, but lasted long enougli to stall off CLIQUE. The latter began flatfooted and closed a big gap. AVARRENTON, in last place at the first turn of the field, moved up gamely when called on last time around and, wearing down the tiring leader in the last quarter, was going away under1 punishment at the end. DIXON JOSEPHINE jumped well "and showed lots of speed but tired right at the end. LINKS, outrun till the last quarter, was gaining at the end. The latter, shuffled back at the start, was taken to the outside when entering the stretch and finished with a rush. UOME tired when it came to a drive. YANKEE PRINCESS raced on the outside of CRAIGTHORNE to the stretch turn and made a desperate challenge at the top of- the stretch, but tired in the last sixteenth.
