Won handily; second and third driving. BLUE MOON set a fast pace from the start, saved ground on the turns and withstood a challenge from QUARANTINE in the stretch, but was hard ridden to the finish. QUARANTINE, energetically ridden, ran a good race from the start, but tired in the final sixteenth and just lasted to save second place. FINN LAG dwelt at the start, but gained steadily and finished fastest of all. PEDAGOGUE ran n gcod race. AMOR TATRIAE was always outrun. RIGEL ran a bad race. UTSAL raced into the lead on the backstrctch and, setting a good pace under restraint, withstood a challenge from DESPOT on the stretch turn and won holding his advantage gamely. DESPOT found a clear course on the inside and followed the winner closely, but tired in the final sixteenth. TEN EYCK was poorly ridden and only ran fairly well. DICK WHITTINGTON showed early speed. MARK OVER set the early pace, but quit after going three-quarters. TICK TOCK and HENRY M. DIETZ were outrun. Scratched 84577 Quarantine, 118; 84GG3 Stampdale, 105; S4GG2 Fly By, 112. SWEETGRASS, a forward contender from the start, came fast and resolutely after entering the stretch and outfinished CARTHAGE in the final strides. CARTnAGE ran a good race and finished gamely on the outside. TRANSFORMER closed a big gap and finished with a rush through the stretch. DAVE GOLDIE showed the most early speed, but tired after racing TIME LOCK into defeat. The latter showed speed, but tired after taking the lead. TRUE HEART saved ground on all the turns. FEYSUN was outrun from the start, but finished fast through the stretch. WAMPEE was in close quarters in the stretch when he tried to come through cn the inside, but ran a bad race. THE WORLD was outrun, but closed up some ground in the stretch. nUMORETTE finished with a belated rush. ALL IN ALL set a fast pace to the-stretch and quit badly. RUNGRAND quit and was pulled up.
