. INCREASE CANADIAN TAX Provincial Treasurer Intimates License Will Be Raised on Half-Mile Tracks. TORONTO, Ont; Oct 18. As a result of the attendance figures and mutuel wagering at Dufferin Park, filed with Col. W. H. Price provincial treasurer, for the last meeting", the latter intimates that steps will likely be taken this session to increase the daily license for half-mile tracks in Canada from ,500 per day to ,500 per day, the latter amount now being asked of the mile tracks only. The figures for the last meeting of Dufferin Park show that 60,722 attended during the seven days of the meeting, while the attendance at "Woodbine during the autumn meeting was only 56,710 and Thorncliffe 41,202. The amount that passed through the machines at Dufferin was ,927,435, at "Woodbine ,127,000 ; at Thorncliffe, ,781,-000 ; at "Windsor, ,930,7i6 ; at Devonshire, ,600,966, and at Hamilton, ,783,387. The wagering at Dufferin was only exceeded by "Woodbine and "Windsor, the latter only being a few thousand more than the half-mile track.
