HOUDINI was outrun for the first mile and a half, then gained steadily and, passing TASSEL when going to the last jump, took the lead and was going away at the end. TASSEL made the running fast and jumped well until challenged, but blundered at the last jump and tired. COURTEOUS out-finished the tiring TOP NOTCH. The latter could never get to the leaders. SKY SCRAPER II. was going well when he lost his rider at the ninth jump. DAMASK made a bad landing at the eighth jump and fell. Overweight Top Notch, 2 pounds. QEff7"fl SECOND RACE 3-4 Mile. COMIXA showed much speed and, racing APPELLATE into defeat, took the lead, but could not withstand the winners rush, SILK TASSEL was among the leaders from the start and finished well. BIG BLAZE began slowly and was in close quarters in the early running, but closed a gap and came fast through the stretch. SUN FLAG was a forward con-d tender all the way, but was tiring at the end. EPINARD appeared sour at the barrier and was forced wide on the first turn and quit after going well for five-eighths. INITIATE ran well.
