FOUR STRAIGHT VICTORIES FOR ZEV LATONIA, Ky., Oct. 18. While the Latonia Championship Stakes was the magnet that attracted the immense crowd to Latonia today, there was great interest displayed in the appearance of Zev, the Rancocas champion and record money winner of last year. Zev was one of the starters in the mile race immediately preceding the Latonia Championship Stakes and, in one of the gamest exhibitions by a thoroughbred seen at this track, won his fourth straight victory when he got up in the last stride to beat Postillion. To accomplish his .task he was also forced to establish a new track record, covering the distance in 1:3G, which is one-fifth second better than that made by Revenue Agent under an Impost of 107 pounds. Zev carried 129 pounds in todays race. There were three starters, with Zev a pronounced favorite and Princess Doreen the one expected to give him the most contention. The speedy Postillion went out under her light impost into a good lead and held on determinedly, with Princess Doreen and Zev following. Zev seemed completely dene for before reaching the stretch, where he was five lengths in back of Princess Doreen, which had challenged Postillion boldly and was in a fair way of moving into the lead. She seemingly has had too much of it, for she faltered soon thereafter. Meantime Postillion looked a certain winner until the last eighth, where Zev began a determined rush. He came steadily and gamely, reduced the . distance fast and a. sixteenth out was only two lengths in back of Postillion. The latter now began tiring and Zev continuing uninterruptedly, managed to get up in the last stride to win by the shortest of heads. Zevs performance was cheered loud and lustily by the big thrcng.
