COCHRANS BOWIE PLANS New York Owner Will Make Strong Bid for Stakes at Final Maryland Meeting. BALTIMORE, Md., Nov. 13. Gifford A. Cochrans Bowie string will be made up of the sprinter Goshawk, the three-year-old. Sun Flag and the two-year-olds. Battle Field, Dangerous, North Pole and Manifold. These horses aro racing now at Pimlico under the management of John Whalen, and they are all in good racing condition. Goshawk, son of Whisk Broom IL, and Dovelet, was bred by Harry Payne Whitney. Mr. Cochran paid 0,000 for him as a two-year-old after ho had defeated McKee, Bud Lerner and others in a renewal of the Saratoga Special. Goshawk has recently given evidence of fitness by running Zev to a head in the first of the Maryland Jockey Clubs Serial Weight-for-Age races at three-quarters. Sun Flag, son of Sun Briar, the sire of Sunny Man, Saratoga Maje and Sunsard, is New York-bred and a formidable three-year-old. He defeated Aga Khan, Mr. Mutt, Spic and Span, Klondyke, Bob Tail. Lucky Play and Thorndale in a renewal of the Travers Stakes at Saratoga, running a mile and a quarter in 2:04. He was in good form at Laurel Park, where he won one race and set the pace for more than a mile in the Maryland and the Washington Handicap renewals. Sun Flag is particularly good in deep going. He will be pointed for the running of the Gadsden D. Bryan Memorial, Prince Georges and Thanksgiving Handicaps, 0,000 races of one mile, one mile and an eighth and one mile and three-sixteenths, respectively. Dangerous, Battle Field and North Pole were 5,000 yearlings. The first two are sons of Negofol, the sire of Hourless ; the other is a son of North Star III., sire of Beau Butler, Blossom Time and Blue Warbler. They were bred by Edward F. Simms at Nalapa Farm in Bourbon county, Kentucky. Dangerous and Battle Field are winners. North Pole is new to racing. All three will train for the ,500 Endurance Handicap.
