FEWER AMERICAN ENTRIES ; Among the Nominations for the Classic Races of England, to Be Run in 1926. Fewer American entries have been made for the English classic races of 192G .than was the case a year ago when the entries for 1925 were closed. The late Major August Belmont, J. E. Madden and others who named their yearlings last fall for next years Epsom Derby and other big events did not nominate for the 1926 events, according to the official list of entries. Two entries were made direct from New York, and particular of these had not been received when the entries closed. For the one hundred and forty-third re-newal of the Derby Stakes of 192C, there were 313 nominations. Among the nominators arc Joseph E. AVidener, A. K. Macombcr, P. Belmont and Marshall Field. Mr.-Macomber was the heaviest nominator among tha Americans, the California sportsman naming seventeen. P. Belmont has nominated a bay colt by Hourless Balancoire. while Marshall Field III.s entry is Law and Order, by Gay CrusaderKeplers Law. J. E. WidenersDerby nominations are Gap II.. ch. g, by Nimbus -Galloping Jenny; Gossoon III., b. c, by Irish Lad Lady Nell; Apollodore. br. c, by Sans le Sou La Belliere, and a black filly bv Swynford Roseway. For the Two Thousand Guineas Stakes, to be run at Newmarket, there wore 334 nominations. Mr. Macomber named twelve of those entered for the Derby, while Mr. WMener named Gossoon III., Gap II. and the bay colt King Bruce, by Teddy Persistent. The one Thousand Guineas drew 223 nominations. Mr. : Field named five and Mr. Macomber and Mr. iWidener four each. All three named entries for the St. Leger Stakes, to be rim at Don-caster, for which 309 nominations were received for the 192G event. For the Epsom Oaks Stakes, to be run at Epsom Downs over the course of about a mile and a half, there were 250 nominations.
