: i , j I NEW YORK TRAINING NEWS 1 NEW YORK, N. Y.. April 8.— There was little training activity at Belmont lark Wednesday, although the weather was mild and track conditions favorable. Three of the less formidable of locally trained Ken-I , tacky Derby candidates were given gallops, but nothing approaching real speed was asked of any of them. • Devonshire, W. J. Salmons Derby hope, worked a mile in 1 :44i over the main course in company with Wilderness. Felix, which will carry the colors of George D. Widener in the Derby, worked a similar distance over the training track in 1 :47. Clyde Phillips came up from Bowie to supervise a three-quarters gallop for the Greentree Stables Derby candidate Stirrup Cup. The colt went the distance in 1:18, which was the fastest time of the morning for three-quarters. He was not extended. J. D. Replogles French importation Opti- , mist went an easy three-quarters in 1 M%. ■
