KENTUCKY DERBY FLASHES Number of Eastern Invaders Arrive at Scene of Great Race — Almadel Rejoins Stable. LOUISVILLE. Ky., May 11.— The ranks of the Kentucky Derby starters here received two important additions late Sunday when "Bud" Fishers Swope and J. E. Griffiths Single Foot, regarded as two formidable eastern invaders, arrived. Single Foot came in charge of trainer Harry Rites. A. Johnson, who rode Exterminator in most of his races, has been engaged to ride Singel Foot in the Derby and he will be here Thursday. Swope came here in charge of the stablea foreman. Trainer Alex Gordon will be here Tuesday morning. Almadel, Hal Price Headleys main reliance in the Derby, rejoined the main division of the stable at Churchill Downs Monday morning. The good mare Chacolet, a winner in Maryland, was in the same car. August Buschs Chief Uncas, which is scheduled to carry the colors of the St. Louis sportsman in the Derby, will reach here Tuesday. Clifford A. Cochrans Flying Ebony is expected to arrive in the same car. Prince of Bourbon and Sweeping Away, the pair that will sport the colors of the Xalapa Stable, which arrived here Sunday, were given their first introduction to the track Monday morning. They went together for a gallop of five-eighths, which they traversed in 1 :04%. The quarter was covered in :245s and the half in :51. It was announced by James McClelland, general manager of the stable, that Andy Schuttinger would ride Prince of Bourbon and C. Robinson Sweeping Away in their Derby engagements. In addition to the Derby colts, McClelland brought the speedy mare Happy Thoughts and a couple of two-year-olds. The latter are Frank Carter, bay colt by Eternal — Helen Marie, the property of the Xalapa Farm Stable, and Wonderful One, a bay filly by Eternal — June Bug, which is owned by Mr. McClelland.
