SEAGRAMS FINE STABLE 1 Canadian Owners Horses Are Fit After Maryland Campaign. ♦ Trainer William Batrman to Have String of Thirty Thoroughbreds for Racing at Bine Bonnets. ♦ MONTREAL. Que.. May 21.— The Seagrams, of Ontario, formidable rivals of Commander J. K. L. Ross, of Quebec, in thoroughbred production in the Dominion of Canada, developed a powerful stable in Maryland, for the June racing of the Montreal Jockey Club, at Blue Bonnets. Digit, which defeated Commanders Ross Tijuana Derby winner. Deep Thought, in last springs renewal of the Toronto Cup, won at Havre de Grace. Kdisto, a son of Johren — Tunnln. and an acquisition of last year from the stable of Harry Payne Whitney, his breeder, was one of the best three-year-olds at Pimlico. Kdisto made a splendid showing in the Preakness, after a few good preliminary races. Arno, another recruit from the Whitney Stable, a son of Peter Pan — Forence, carried 122 pounds, at Pimlico. May 6. and defeated Heir-at-Law, Forecaster, Olivia, The Cherokee II., and others easily in a dash of three-quarters. Play Fair won under their silks at a big price as did Head Cover, by Helmut — Bird Ix ose. Malapert, Redstone, Black Climber, Exalted Ruler and tiaffsman, made creditable showings in swift company. Exalted Ruler won at Havre de Grace. These are the best of the band trainer William Bateman will bring to Blue Bonnets after the finish of the spring meeting of the Ontario Jockey Club at Woodbine Park. Toronto. Their good condition is a result of their campaign in Maryland. But they do not all belong to Mr. Seagram. Trainer Bateman has about thirty horses of various ages in charge. Others are Kings Court, Duchess, Beau of the West, Oland. Golden Sphere, Bulldog Drummond. Toscanelli, Goldlands, Isoletta, Gallant Greek. Brilliant Jester, Irish Belle, Hillman, Tamarind and Gilbert Cook. Black Climber is one of the most promising three-year-old maidens that will appear in Canada this spring. He is a son of Black Toney — Rosevine. by Bourbon Beau. Malapert and Redstone are ready to win. Their Maryland racing demonstrated they are fit. Gaffsman is a two-year-old by Jim Gaffney — Filante. He worked well at Pimlico. He ran Crusader to a head and licked Zeppelin Lanark, Curler, Chocolate Soldier, Sea Rocket, Crepo and Barney Wells. Zeppelin is one of Walter J. Salmons youngsters. Crusader was the best colt Samuel D. Riddle uncovered in Maryland. Gaffsman is being pointed for the renewal j of the Kindergarten Stakes, the Montreal Jockey Clubs June special for two-year-olds. With Gaffsman in the Kindergarten Stakes are Phanarict. a bay son of Ypsilanti — Kate Kittleberry ; Swoop, a bay son of Sweep — Jeano, and Sweep Net, a bay daughter of Sweep — Nettie K. Phanariot is a product ! of the Seagram stud in the province of Ontario. Ypsilanti, a Maryland bred son of Galore and a three-time Kempton lark Great Jubilee winner in Great Britain, is standing at the Seagram farm. He has been there many years.
