Three Jorkejs "arrowly Escape Serlons In-Jury in Fall In Third Rare — Another Tumble in Steeplechase. I TORONTO. Ont.. May 23— In the running of the Woodstock Plate, with ,000 added, at a mile and a sixteenth, the lightly regarded Judge Fuller proved an easy winner over Edisto and Senalado, the strong public choices. Harry Baker, Thistlewood and Old Crow declined and Senalado and the Seagram Stable, represented by Edisto and Arno. were given the bulk of support. The pace was a hot one and the winner covered the distance in 1:46?.. a real creditable performance. In the race to the first turn the Seagram pair led. with Arno in front and Edisto and Judge Fuller close behind. Senalado was slow to get going and was last round the first turn. Arno took back in the back stretch and Edisto sprinted into a lead, followed by Judge Fuller, with Senalado still far back. It was not until the eighth post was reached that Edisto gave way to Judge Fuller, the latter winning going away, with Edisto saving second place from the fast-finishing Senalado, which overtook Arno fifty yards out. Perkiomen was made a strong favorite in the Helter Skelter Steeplechase and he justified the confidence placed in him by winning eased up, six lengths in front of J. R. Ma-; combers Bashdon and J. E. Smallmans No-mis. The race provided a tumble when Cavendish made a bad landing at the fourteenth fence. N. Harris, who was up, was thrown up on Cavendishs neck and the horse went several strides before the jockey was finally thrown over his head. The ambulance was summoned and Harris was taken to the track hospital. A bad fall marred the running of the third race, a three-quarters dash for Province-breds, which went to Mrs. L. A. Livingstones Smooth Ice. after a thrilling stretch duel with Gallant Greek and Fleet Frincess which finished second and third. Just after turning out of the back stretch. Speyroyal fell and Beth Hodder and Cabin Maid fell over Speyroyal. The latter Continued on sixteenth pace. EASY FOR JUDGE FULLER Continued from first par* didnt make a move after falling1 and it was necessary to haul him off the track. Buck and Woods, who were astride Cabin Maid and Beth Hodder, were able to get up but Pete Walls was taken off in the ambulance. Fleet Princess was off in front and set the pace to the stretch, where Gallant Greek, which had been laying fifth, went to the front only to succumb in the stretch after a spirited duel with Smooth Ice. The latter was given a powerful finish by Claver. Gallant Greek and Fleet Princess escaped the jam. the only ones suffering being the ones that fell. Bachelor of Arts showed a lot of speed for part of the journey and War Tank never could stand the rush of the placed horses. First on the card was the Bender Plate for three-year-olds and over at three-quarters and M igh t Shade, which races for E. P. Sammer field, was an easy winer from Ven-izelos and Button Bright a Boss gelding, a son of Sir Barton — Kate Bright. After Stroller broke through the barrier a couple of tiroes the field was off in good order with Night Shade leading closely followed by Veniselos and St. Quentin. The latter tired at the first turn but Venizelos hung on, yet unable to improve his position. Hillmun came strong in the stretch and just missed catching Button Bright for third portion of the purso. When Tamale Dick landed the Doncaster Plate, a five-eighths dash, for the Nevada Stock Farm Stable it gave the form followers quite a jolt and paid 0.30 for a %2 ticket. H. G. Bedwells Fore Lady ran to second place, while E. K. Bry sons Flapper Girl was third. General Thatcher proved to be an easy winner of the Queens Hotel Cup, at a mile and seventy yards, sixth on the progTam, and it completed a double for the Nevada Stock Farm Stable, which also furnished the winner of the previous race in Tamale Dick. Harry Baker, one of the P. F. Joyce entry, was second in front of Commander Boss Gclden Bule. Seldom has Woodbine Park witnessed a hooting of the decision of the placing judges, but when Kanduit was awarded the decision over White Marsh in the Gnifton Plate. which wound up the card, there was quite a demonstration. A number of others were of the opinion that Teton should have been awarded the third portion of the purse in-stt -ad of Can*t Say No. The attendant first hung up the number of White Marsh and this agitated the backers of the Farrell gelding when it was taken down again. While the field was small, it proved a thrilling horse race, all six entering the I home stretch like a line of artillery. ■■ closing up on Kanduit. which led until that point. The boy on Teton was asleep at the post and was off badly, but he was a factor in the stretch and a blanket would have covered the field at the finish, the placed horses only being noses apart.
