Won handily: second snd third driving. NIGHT SHADE took the lead at onee and. withstanding repeated challenges from VENIZELOS on the bock stretch, easily held her advantage to the end. VENIZELOS forced the pace all the way and finished gamely. BCTTON BRIGHT was a forward contender throughout and finished resolutely. HILLMAN closed a big gap and came fast in the final eighth. ST. BASHDON was prominent from the start and easily took second pace when CAVENDISH went down. NOMIS finished fast and eutgamod the tiring ROI CRAIG. FLAPPER GIRL set a fast pace and saved ground to the head of the stretch, hut tired badly in tje last seventy yards. BlTTERCUP moved up fast after entering the stretch, but tired. GENERAL THATCHER was saved within striking distance of the leaders to the stretck. then closed up with a rush after passing the eighth post, passed HARRY BAKER without trouble in the final sixteenth, and won going away fast. HARRY BAKER raced into the lead after entering the stretch, but was no match for the winner when challenged. GOLDEN RILE was prominent throughout. KANDUIT followed SEA FAIRY* closely in the early running and. saving ground at the head of the stretch, took the leael and outgamed WHITE MARSH in the final strides. WHITE MARSH, away in a tangle, moved up fast on the back stretch and met with interference, but came on the outside in the stretch, seemingly having KANDUIT beaten five yards from the f.nish. CANT SAY NO carried his weight well snd finished close up. SEA FAIRY quit after showing the way for three-quarters. Scratched — f9733 Commissioner. 119. Overweight — Black Climber. 3 pounds.
