HIALEAH STABLES PEGASUS * Makes Amends for Several Failures at Maple Heights. ♦ Accounts for Commodore Terry Handicap, With Winnipeg Second and Hnon Pine Third — Harmonious Wins. 1 CLEVELAND. Ohio, May 27.— Pegasus, racing for the Hialeah Stable, after several disappointing efforts at this meeting, finally made good this afternoon, when he accounted for the Commodore Perry Handicap, principal offering of the Ohio State Jockey Club, at Maple Heights. Winnipeg was a creditable second. Huon Pine came from the rear and beat the others for third place. Jockey Hay, on Pegasus, waited until approaching the stretch with his mount, then made his move and overhauling Winnipeg, midway of the stretch, drew clear near the end. Banter set out at a terriffic clip for the first half mile, was then taken in hand and dropped completely out of contention in the last quarter. A. J. Wells Harmonious, after showing the way at all stages, barely lasted to earn the verdict from Lee Adrin, in the fourth, which attracted some good performers. Lee Adrin made a bold bid for the honors in the stretch, and was rapidly overhauling the winner at the end. Bees came from far back in the last quarter mile to secure third. Although the skies were overcast, the weather was pleasant, the track again in good condition and a goodly crowd was present. Taking command at once and leading throughout, Margaretta E., scored a decisive victory over Moonbrook and Bill Shaffer in the opening dash. Her victory came as a huge surprise and she returned a handsome dividend. After racing in close pursuit of Mary Dear, until midway of the stretch in the second, Body Guard wore down the leader and got up to win in the last few strides. It was a decidedly interesting finish. Monastery, began slowly, but easily disposed of the others in the last quarter. Although tiring rapidly. French Canadian held on gamely to annex the third race from the fast finishing Hughes Graham after showing the way at all stages. Boomerang barely lasted to save third. A keen stretch struggle came witn the running of the sixth. An eighth out Recha-bite appeared the winner, but was passed in turn by Small Star and Royaline, the latter having the most in reserve for the final drive. Small Star closed an immense gap and with better racing luck would probably have won. Another exciting finish marked the seventh and final contest, in which Joe Patton, the pacemaker, was awarded the decision over Attractive by the shortest of margins.
