JOY SMOKE raced promimntly all the way. fou.-ht it out gamely with WILDERNESS all through the stretch and had his n ,se in front ten yards from the finish, but could not w.thstand the rush of GENERAL THATCHER. WILDERNESS raced well and took the lead in the stretch turn, but could not keep it. DIGIT set a fast pace but begun tiring on the far turn. WII.KES-BARRE, on the inside all the way. was bothered frequ-ntly and cut off on the turn for home and was not persevered with afterwards. HAPL1TE began sluggishly but was in a contending position when turning for heme and could have beaten his stablemate had his rider elected. FEAR NOT forced the pace from the start and had no mishaps. IIERETRIX began slowly and finished fast, but was In trouble when a jam occurred on the turn out of the back stretch. DAVENPORT and UAPLITE also suffered at this point. SOUTH WEST tired.
