, i ! j | ! I i BOON COMPANION ARRIVES Miami Cup Winner and Stable -nmtes Among Horses Reaching Churchill Downs. LOUISVILLE, Ky.. April S.— The stable of S. A. Cowan of Cleveland. Ohio, in charge of A. G. Woodman and headed by the crack four-year-old. Boon Companion, arrived from Miami this morning and secured stabling room at Churchill Downs. The horses were unloaded in a healthy condition. Jockeys W. long and H. Barrett returned with the stable. The stable had the distinction of heading the list of winning owners at Miami and Boon Companion captured the rich Miami Cup. There were other arrivals this morning, including the establishment of S. N. Hol-man, which came from New Orleans in charge of trainer Jim Schuster. Jockeys Vincent Moore and Stanley Cooper arrived with the horses. The stable of W. II. Whitehousc and Lon Johnson, recently brought to the Downs from New Orleans, comprised nine head. Johnson has all of his horses well advanced in their training. The stable of George Hendrie arrived from winter quarters at Gallatin, Term., in charge of trainer John Walters. With utter disregard for the prolonged unfavorable weather and track conditions, training operations at both local tracks went on without any interruption this morning. The most ambitious Derby workout was witnessed when trainer Al Steele sent the Keeneland Studs candidate Champ Dc Mars three-quarters. He ran at an even pace, reeling off the distance in 1:20*5. Mike McLahe, his stable companion, went a similar distance in 1 :24.
