PAT DONOGHUE WINS AGAIN Son of Famous Steve Rides Long Shot Rockfire to Victory in the Newbury Spring Cup. SPECIAP CABLEGRAM LONDON, England, April 10. — Pat Ponog-hue, son of Steve Ponoghue, duplicated his Lincolnshire victory of two weeks ago when he rode Pockfire, a 20 to 1 shot, to triumph in the Newbury Spring Cup at Newbury this afternoon. Rockfire, lightly weighted with eighty-eight pounds, lasted to beat Purple Shade by a neck, with Warden of the Marshes a head further back. The weather was bright and pleasant, but the track was rather heavy. A big crowd turned out for the sport. Fifteen horses started in the race. Zionist was the favorite, but he was never prominent in the running. Rockfire was at 20 to 1 : Purple Shade at 12 to 1, and Warden of the Marshes was second choice at 11 to 2. Purple Shade, wnu-h finished second today, occupied the same position in last years running of tne cup. A quarter mi.e from the finish Rockfire. Purple Shade. Warden of the- Marshes and Noldera were closely locked and they fought it out from that point to the finish. Rockfire gradually gained a slight advantage under strong urging and crossed the finish a length to the good. Purple Shade, carrying 110 pounds, was just able to beat Warden of the Marshes. Ill pounds, by a head for the place and Noldera was half a length farther back. a. — , —
