conditions were ideal and a surprisingly large crowd was out for the sport The card was a thoroughly interesting one and in addition to the Greenfield there was a threequarters handicap that brought Regrets fol ¬ lowed closely Early in the racing Sande found himself in close quarters with Uncle Hood but lie held to his place and soon it wnR Capricorn that was showing the way with Best Friend another thrilling finish when James Butlers Pique just beat the Oak Ridge Stables Mino by a head while closely following them came i S 1 Randolphs Pheasant Hillside was a distant fourth while Queens disadvantage of b bsing sing on the inside and Pique kept him in there where the going was deeper than any rhere else on the track trackAt At the head of the stretch both of the leaders swung out a bit and there It was that Pheasant was rushed upon the rail opening For an instant he threatened to come through to victory but the deep going told its tale and Pique and Mino fought it out to the some considered the ruling a bit peculiar but it was ieserved ieservedMarygrace Marygrace and Janetta took the lead after the start shortly after leaving the back stretch and when Janetta was leading Blightly Fisher brought her over so sharply she interferred with Marygrace This per ¬ mitted Janetta to go into a long lead but Mary grace came again and wore her down to win in the final strides stridestlaily tlaily Raglan was racing well in the tr Uh when she was slightly blocked but she did not have u chance to beat Marygrace SLhe others were more or less strung out outW W H Karricks Brookwood scored over the platers in the mile and seventy yards of the wectnd race when he led home Samuel Ross Dignity with Sauger racing for Fal de Saint IMialle Vie breaking well was the one to net was also galloping strongly Breuriing was working his way up gradually with Brook woo l and the son of Ballot was gaining on the others But Senate was still racing well and the Karrick colt was far from the lead ¬ ers On the stretch turn Vie began to tire and when the others closed up Breuning had 310 choice except the outside again Brook yto u went to the outside and when well Jn side the last eighth was even with the lead ¬ ers and then drew away to win by a couple of length Dignify finished fast to be second three lengths before Saupe while Vi quit iMidlv when the real test came
