DOUBLE FOR E R BRADLEY President and Barcolo Carry Col ¬ ors Successfully at Latonia First Mentioned Takes Walnut Hills Purse PurseLatter Latter Proves Best in the Grand GrandHotel Hotel Purse LATONIA Ky June 4 The two best races of todays ordinary card here went the way of E R Bradleys Idle Hour Farm Stable representatives to give the popular Kentucky horseman four victories since the inauguration Thursday His imported Presi ¬ dent was first to complete the one mile and seventy yards of the Walnut Hills Purse and Barcolo won under the green and white in the Grand Hotel Purse at threequarters In this latter race Mayfair was second and Malcolm B Jr third while Rothermel from the J N Camden stable was second to Presi ¬ dent Third place fell to Overall OverallPresident President ran coupled with Bill Strap the entry being the most acceptable to those who speculated upon the outcome but aside from somo early speed the latter was nothing like a match for those which his stable com ¬ panion mastered President in negotiating the distance in 1 437f enjoyed an advantage of a good neck over Rothermel at the finish Overall was third six lengths further back backRothermel Rothermel was bothered repeatedly during the early running and Overall made the win ¬ ners task easier by running out on the last turn after racing within a short distance of the lead Both of these might have reversed the otitsome vith the same good fortune as came the way of the winner winnerBarcolos Barcolos triumph was of the hard earned variety the sluggish son of North Star III requiring vigorous riding and free use of R Williams whip to keep within range of Mayfair as the latter cut out the running the first fiveeighths An eighth out Wil ¬ liams had Barcolos head in front but he evidently had been advised of his mounts desire to quit and continued to ride hard right to the very end endAt At the finish the winners margin amount ¬ ed to one length while Mayfair was one and onehalf lengths in front of Malcolm B Jr which raced forwardly all the way to be in third place at the end Champ De Mars a favored one in this race never recovered after being shut off in the back stretch Bar ¬ colo was the betting choice and his win was popular with the large Friday crowd that graced the course courseThe The second days entertainment was of ¬ fered beneath a cloudy sky and the air pos ¬ sessed a sharp tinge of autumnal coolness Topcoats and apparel suitable for combating rain were again in evidence Continued on twentieth page DOUBLE FOR E R BRADLEY Continued from first page Gallaher and Combs exhibited one of the most promising youngsters in their twoyear old Mary Jane halfsister to Chilhowee in the Walton Purse second race of the after ¬ noon This race named ten maiden twoyear old fillies and the winner showed her nine rivals the way for the entire course win ¬ ning from the oddson choice Burd Helen by five lengths The latter beat Mandolette by three lengths for second place placeThe The superior riding ability of Willie Garner over the apprentice D Dubois proved the deciding factor in the opening sprint of threequarters Garner getting Lucky Drift up to steal top honors from the apparently much the best Clonaslee in the concluding eighth Dubois was not alert near the end where his mount was permitted to drop about a half length behind Lucky Drift only to come fast near the end when Dubois found his bearings Valley Light gave an even performance to account for third place placeThe The Longrldge Stables Resourceful gave a good performance for one of her rank when she negotiated one and onesixteenth miles in 146 to decisively defeat Spanish Rose Waterflag and five others under claiming conditions in the third The winner was rated off the fast pace of Blabbermouth and moving up quickly in the final quarter wore down Spanish Rose which had forced the early pace and disposed of Blabbermouth then came away fast the last sixteenth sixteenthThe The fourth race provided Irene Rohan opportunity to garner another purse win ¬ ning from Amy A Jessie Belle and three others at fiveeighths She led for most of the way and had something in reserve at the end
