LATONIA TURF NOTES LATONIA Ky June 4 4Col Col Matt J Winn general manager of the Kentucky Jockey Club returned from Chi ¬ cago this morning He reports progress on the Lincoln Fields plant and while no def ¬ inite program for a summer meeting has been decided on Colonel Winn assures the com pletion of the course in time for midsummer racing Colonel Winn will remain here for the Derby tomorrow but will leave for New York to attend a meeting of the directors of the Laurel race track trackMary Mary Jane winner of the second race is a halfsister to such famed ones as Chil ¬ howee and Menifee Her effort was quite impressive and she may be capable of prov ¬ ing herself a worthy relative of such good F P Letellier trainer and part owner of the Palmdale Stable arrived at Latonia with eight horses and finding that he could not secure the stabling accommodation that he desired put his horses on the cars and returned them to Douglas Park ParkA A S Woodman trainer of Boon Compan ¬ ion and other horses belonging to S A Cowan is another one that did not remain here with his horses owing to his failure to secure desirable stables He did not even unload his horses He shipped them to Fair mount mountL L J Keating Standard Oil official of Louisville has embarked in racing as an owner Last week at Churchill Downs he purchased from the Green Briar Stable the fiveyearold Stormalong and threeyearold War Franc and both horses are now at Latonia in charge of A Williamson former foreman for the Parkview Stable StableDr Dr C N Finch well known veterinarian arrived from Toronto where he had per ¬ formed operations for wind trouble on a number of the Seagram horses horsesThe The stable that S N Holman has at La ¬ tonia at present is the smallest that owner has campaigned in a number of years The establishment has been reduced to nino horses these being Tangara Blanc Seing Scamp Pyrol Barracuda Nervous Abie Ky roclc Pliora and Carnarvon CarnarvonThe The Parkview Stable which includes the good colt Rhinock was a belated arrival from Churchill Downs this afternoon afternoonA A change in riders on Rhinock for the Latonia Derby developed late this afternoon when Pete Coyne contract employer of Willie Garner announced he had promised the boy to the Keeneland Stud for service in a stake at Fairmount Park tomorrow This resulted in K Scobie being obtained to ride the Park ¬ view Stables colt here tomorrow tomorrowJockey Jockey AV Ridenour who began his riding career in Kentucky six years ago had his first mount in many seasons here in the fifth race raceJockeys Jockeys J Chalmers and George Ellis who will ride Blondin and Navigator respectively in the Latonia Derby arrived from the East in time to witness a portion of this after ¬ noons sport
