LARGE FIELDS AT OMAHA Furnish Keenly Contested Racing Racingat at AkSarBen Field Ladies LadiesOut Out in Large Numbers OMAHA Neb June Jarge fields went to the post in the early races at AkSarBen Field today and though the contestants lacked the class of those in the later races they furnished fine contests Today was the first ladies day of the meeting and the fair sex attended in large numbers Society was well represented all the boxes being well filled The weather was fine clear and the track never looked more beautiful beautifulHalf Half a dozen twoyearolds contested the opening dash and th j result was a very close finish between the first three with Lou Mack which ran second on opening day taking the long end of the purse She beat Ignore Elander by a half length but the result might have been different had not the latter raced wide at the stretch turn For Me the early pacemaker tired near the finish and retired to third place placeField Field horses took down the honors in the second race when Crescent and Deer Trail ran first and second respectively The win ¬ ner showed the way from the beginning but was doing his best at the end The Colonel Sot up in time to be third thirdAnother Another field horse nun Conaway scored in the third by making a fast finish after being outrun in the early stages of the jour ¬ ney Faithful Girl the pa emaker began to tire in the strech and thu winner passed her with little difficulty Matinee Idol was up in time to be third thirdSally Sally Jones after causing starter Donovan much grief by her bad behavior at the post began well and that was all she needed to win the fourth as she was much the best Sayer M ran on even terms with her soon after the start but she raced him into the ground and drew away to win handily She paid long odds oddsFurious Furious Bill was claimed out of the second race for 1000 by J I Walker
