PRINCESS DOREEN WINNER Great Race Mare Adds Another to Long List of Successes Kasily Accounts for Principal Offering at atLatonia Latonia Krick Beats Mary Jane JaneImpressively Impressively LATOXIA Ky June S Fillies and mares played the leading parts here this afternoon before another large attendance They showed under ideal weather and track con ¬ ditions and provided well received entertain ¬ ment of high quality The principal piece engaged female equines eligible for Satur ¬ days renewal of the 5000 added Quickstep Handicap This race was titled The Flap ¬ pers and was decided over the Quickstep distance of threequarters The running granted the gallant Princess Doreen the Audley Farm Stables champion opportunity to contribute another victory to her already long score of triumphs and her winning broke a run of successes for outsiders that had prevailed through the earlier races Mose Goldblatts Teak finished second to the Aud ¬ ley crack while J L Knights Little Visitor was third Deeming Mayfair and Sola Mia the other participants finished behind the placed trio in the order named namedAlong Along with The Flappers the racing secretary offered the equally valuable Fal mouth Purse for fillies of two years This dash of fiveeighths went the way of Hol ¬ lands Kricic which won from Gallaher and Combs Mary Jane in a most impressive manner Sincerely one of the stable of J T Weaver was third here hereWhile While Princess Dorcen administered rather decisive defeat to her opponents it must be said she was decidedly favored in the weights her impost of 112 pounds being but eight pounds more than that carried by the threeyearold ± eak and two less than Little Visitor VisitorIt It was Teak that made the fast time of 112 in which the winner ran the race being the fastest of the meeting at the distance as the Goldblatt color bearer covered the first quarter in 22 far in front of her foes She continued to head the chase at the termina ¬ tion of the first half mile which was done in 4C and it was not until in the concluding sixteenth of the mile that the glorious five yearold dashed to the front frontThereafter Thereafter Teak slowly retired and the Princess had to be hard ridden to hold Little Visitor rearward The others were fairly well grouped a good distance behind the more successful three threePrincess Princess Doreen is one of the outstanding candidates for others in the back stretch continued on with a fair order of speed and courage to score decisively over Brier Hill Poinsettla and even others at the end of the threequarters of the opening dash The winner was racing in her best form and those she opposed were unable to give her troublesome competition onco R Finnerty took her to the front frontW W E Caskcys Peach making her first start expended but little effort in defeating eleven other nonwinners of her age under claiming conditions in the second race The race was over a distance of fiveeighths and the winner led for the entire route scoring by four lengths from Sniper which was lucky to outstay Tim Gleason for second place placeIt It was an unruly and common band of twelve that answered the call for the third race with J T Looneys Longport well rid ¬ den by D Dubois winning in a common can ¬ ter from Kajaba Phil McCann and the others at the close of one and onesixteenth miles The winner forged into command coming off the upper turns and after gathering a safe lead finished out the distance against a steadying hold Kajaba the choice was rid ¬ den wide throughout but finished with a rush to no avail as far as making good for supporters was concerned Phil McCann had the most early speed and held on fairly well to retain third place placeKricks Kricks performance was by a wide margin the finest given by a twoyearold here She started the fiveeighths in languid fashion had to race extremely wide but was more than equal to the task of making up about six lengths on Mary Jane after settling into her best stride at the finish of the first quarter of a mile She convoyed top impost of 117 pounds and negotiated the distance in 1 00 Mary Jane had a measure of the fine speed she exhibited in her previous out ¬ ing and hung on determinedly after failing to keep in front of the winner when she bobbed to the front a sixteenth of a mile out Sin ¬ cerely finished within close range of the more forward two while Pelota and Jessie Belle were far to the rear after the first eighth eighthTaking Taking the lead with the start W S Hea tons King Tut raced in front of five others for the entire distance of one and one sixteenth miles to win the closing race Sec ¬ ond place fell to Finnster which got up in the last twenty yards to beat the favorite Pat Calhoun for second place The latter along with Dry Moon suffered immensely through Willie Pool taking Watchful over too sharply while in the first eighth Both troubled horses narrowly missed going down
