PANDERAS FASHION STAKES Speedy Daughter of Peter Pan in Sparkling Performance Britannic Takes Steeplechase Dangerous DangerousBeats Beats Sunspcro After Thrilling Thrillingand and Exciting Finish NEW YORK N Y Juno S Pandern the swift running daughter o Peter Pan and Dondera was winner of the Fashion Stakes for her owner and breeder H P Whitney at Belmont Park this afternoon The race is a four and a half furlongs test for twoyear old fillies and Pandora took up top weight of 119 pounds and raced in 52 The race was worth G475 to the winner winnerGlen Glen Sprite a recent winner that raced for Mr Pembroke took second place and Lo dina a first time starter from the Short Grass Stable saved third from Joseph E VVi deners Be Fair FairIt It was a delightful day for the racing though early in the afternoon there came a sharp shower and the rain was falling hard during the running of the steeplechase Later J the sun broke through the clouds and thej rain had no effect on the going goingFor For the greater part of the afternoon condi ¬ tions were ideal but after the running of the sixth race there came a downpour of rain rainNine Nine went to the post for the Fashion three from the original entries being withdrawn while Arabia was added from the Newton dale Stable StableThere There was a considerable delay at the post for which Frilette a stablemate of Pandora was partly to blame Finally she was straightened out and the start was a good one though just as the barrier arose Lodina bumped Pandora badly and Frilette was off slowly slowlyGlen Glen Sprite showed wonderful alertness leaving the barrier She jumped into the lead and was quickly clear of the others and run ¬ ning straight and true Pandera on the in ¬ side was locked with Lodina and the latter was bumping her repeatedly But McAtee drove the daughter of Peter Pan until she finally came clear of Lodina though it was not until she had been repeatedly roughed It was a hard chase to catch Glen Sprite but Pandera wore her down in that last eighth and was going away at the end Lodina was a good third and Be Fair finished well while Frilette after she found her racing legs was also closing some ground groundThe The opening race was a threequarters dash through the AVidener Course for plat ¬ ers and High Bridge under a good ride by Fator scored a hard earned victory from Marygrace while Commissioner Cahill was the one to be third There was considerable bumping and swerving through the running and Fator had to drive High Bridge hard for almost a quarter of a mile to land him in the front position Sox was a disap ¬ pointment in the running and she was rid ¬ den listlessly by Harvey Instructress was another that met with a deal of interference and she can undoubtedly do better betterSirs Sirs George W Lofts Britannic making his first start of the year was winner of the steeplechase of the day which was under sell ¬ ing conditions Conniebert from the Greentree Stable raced to second place and L Domi nicks Burton II was a close third beating Continued on twentieth pa e PANDERAS FASHION STAKES Continued from first page Mrs II Dattners Henry Dattner for that part of the prize There were nine that bore silks and only two of them failed to complete the two mile course Old Le Mars son was pulled up when hopelessly out of the running while Amstello made a bad landing at the last jump and unseated J McGee McGeeSafely Safely over the front field Liverpool Fer guson sent Conniebert into the lead and right there Vox Populi II had enough and as he dropped back Hunt moved with Iritannic and Veitch shook up Henry Dattner Loch Ayr was being hurried along and Burton II was galloping strongly Am Ktello was beginning to bungle his fences and McGee did not seem of much assistance in keeping him on his feet Midway of the back field Britannic charged on Conniebert and put her away As he made his move both Henry Dattner and Burton II also moved and the others were dropping back and already forgotten Hunt kept Britannic right at his task and once he had Conniebert headed he held to the command but the mare would not sur ¬ render the place to Burton II though the imported fencer saved ground and was going strongly at the last jump Henry Dattner bore out somewhat at the last jump while the other three finished in fairly close order orderIt It was a great finish came out of the mile handicap that was the fourth offering when tho Rosedale Stables Dangerous was just up to beat home the La Brae Stables Sunspero and tho Sagamore Stables Rockman saved third with J E Griffiths Single Foot FootThis This was a horse race all the way with Kockman carrying much of the burden of the pace Sunspero was in rather close quarters on the inner rail and he was pretty securely bottled up when it was Nichavo that raced with Rockman Single Foot was showing plenty of speed while High Star after begin ¬ ning like a sprinter was soon outfooted It was at the head of the stretch that Sande pulled Sunspero from the rail and racing him around the leaders he was safely in front an eighth from the finish and racing strongly Then it was that Dangerous began his win ¬ ning rush He fairly flew around the others and stride by stride he wore Sunspero down to win going away awayRockman Rockman hung on well after his pacemak ing to save third from Single Foot and the others were more or less strung out After tho finish Hockman was worked out the full mile and a half for his engagement in the Bcitnont Saturday He finished out the route in 237 which was highly satisfactory satisfactoryMax Max Mirsch sent his second winner of the day to the post when he saddled Terry for S H Harris He had already won the steeplechase with Mrs Lofts Britannic BritannicTerry Terry raced in a fiveeighths dash for maiden juveniles and it was a truly good fi ld It was also the first racing appearance of the son of North Star III and Seamstress and though he won he raced so greenly that it is safe to promise he will improve over this his first effort At tho end Pouter from the Hamilton JTHI Stable was second and Northern Pass Scaring the silks of the Oakridge Stable saved third from Samuel I toss Mariner It was a bit remarkable that the first and second at the end were racing for the first time timeThere There is a bit of sentiment attached to the naming of Terry Mr Harris chose the name after the late Terry McGoyern the battler that he managed and who gave him u start to Tenl success
