DOUBLE FOR W J POTTER Takesv Both Features at Omaha Brilliant and Gad Carrying His v Colors Triumphantly OMA1TA Neb June 12 W J Potter had a field day at the AkSarBen course this afternoon Horses carrying his colors accounted for both the feature races which where the Governors Handicap and the Fremont Claiming Handicap The Gover ¬ nors was the main attraction of the after ¬ noon and carried a purse valued at 1200 It was won by Brilliant after a hard stretch struggle with Lizette The finish was one of the closest of the meeting and came near to being a dead heat Lizette set the early pace and held on with courage when Brilliant drew up on her at the stretch turn It was a real horse race through the last sixteenth and Brilliant earned the ver ¬ dict Lucy Kate was third thirdGad Gad was the other successful Potter horse and he had little trouble winning the Fre ¬ mont He was away well and passing Follow Me before the quarter was reached drew away into a long lead which he held to the end Black Prince was second and Delectable third thirdDespite Despite the humidity of the weather an exceptionally large crowd was present and the track was again in lightning fast con ¬ dition ditionCherokee Cherokee Lee which was favored to win the Governors Handicap was withdrawn from that event after pulling up lame in her workout this morning She will be rested up and the injured member treated treatedKing King Jack making the second start of his career on a recognized race track was an easy winner of the opening race which was for maiden threeyearolds and over He seemed much the best and easily took com ¬ mand when ready Seth Lean the favorite finished second and Star Finish was third thirdSlippery Slippery Smile won the second race at long odds He was close up Till the way and catching the leaders in the stretch held sway thereafter Two other long shots Pearl Boots and Time and Tide were second and third respectively while Picnic the favored one finished in fourth place Mary Dear was ordered scratched from this race as It was for nonwinning owners at the meeting and her master won the opening dash with King Jack Picnic was claimed by Mrs M Mclntyre for 1100 1100Another Another outsider came home in front in the third It was Black Mask and he made a game finish to outstay Colonel Wagner Miss Liberty was the choice but she had not the necessary speed to keep up with the first two though she easily held the others She was claimed by T McBryde for 900
