OFFDAY AT AURORA Claiming Race Program Provides WellContested Races Elizabeth Seths Victory in Fifth FifthEace Eace First for Public Choices ChoicesDuring During Afternoons Sport AURORA 111 May 26 Claiming races held the center of the stage and comprised the entire program of the offday card pro ¬ vided by the Exposition Park Jockey Club at the Aurora course this afternoon Ideal weather conditions prevailed and the races were run over a rapidly drying out and much improved track Good sport was the rule with numerous close and exciting finishes and hard fought contests resulting There was an absence of any stars and no out ¬ standing attraction was scheduled Favorites were defeated frequently but not disgraced as most of the first choices finished inside the money moneyThe The first favorite of the afternoon to score was Elizabeth Seth which races for the Jones Stock Farm Stable Her success came in the fifth race when piloted by the stables good jockey R De Prema the threeyearold daughter of Seth was mistress of the situa ¬ tion at all stages of the one mile trip and raced in the lead throughout She galloped into a comfortable lead after making the first turn and made every post a winning one thereafter finishing under restraint The Wire took second place getting up at the end of the stretch drive to defeat Pat Field and Majoe for that portion of the purse Majoe was one of the factors in the race but tiring at the end was an easy victim for The Wire and also succumbed to the challenge of Pat Field in the last few yards relinquishing third place to the latter latterTAYLOR TAYLOR ASTRIDE WIXXER WIXXERM M Simmons Charles Whitney an already previous winner at the meeting registered another success for his owner when he an ¬ nexed the purse in the initial race of the afternoon The veteran rider W Taylor was in tne saddle and keeping his mount in the van of the others throughout then applied strenuous tactics upon Charles Whitney at the end and managed to keep him going just long enough to last to defeat Adventuress by a nose Adventuress was the favorite and after racing in a contending position to the stretch came with a resolute challenge in the last eighth and catching the leader tiring fast and swering badly rapidly wore him down and barely missed getting up to head him at the end Jeanette S easily took third place placeAnother Another nose finish resulted in the follow ¬ ing race when Strut Miss Lizzie finishing like a shot charged down on the leading Stay On in the closing few yards of the stretch drive and just got up in the very last stride to nose him out for the decision Stay On was a length in advance of Singing Cricket for second place while the latter just lasted to beat Happy Top narrowly for third money Singing Cricket showed the most early speed and was in the lead until the field was nearing the finish and looked the winner However Strut Miss Lizzie out ¬ paced to the final turn had quickly closed a wide gap on the outside and finishing with a terrific rush caught Stay On in the last strides and just got up to win by a nose Singing Cricket tired at the end and just lasted to save third from the strong finish ¬ ing Happy Top TopSHOWS SHOWS BEST FORM FORMB B R Washs Meddling Seth racing in his best form took the measure of the large band of platers which started in the third race at five and a half furlongs Second place fell to Love Pirate which raced well while Tromping To Day wound up in third place Meddling Seth given a good ride by jockey J Dillea had the most speed from the start and drew into a safe lead after going a half mile Love Pirate and Tromp ¬ ing To Day raced in closest pursuit through ¬ out while the nine others of the bg field were strung out and unable to even menace the leaders Meddling Seth continued gamely in the stretch and easily got home a length and a half in advance of Love Pirate to take the purse Love Pirate held second place safe at the end and was never in danger of losing it at any stage Tromping To Day secured a similar hold on the minor award and also kept it to the finish finishMrs Mrs 1 Dreyers Little Guinea proved bet ¬ ter than the other starters in the fourth race and at the conclusion of the race was a handy winner from Riot Up and Down and four other starters which made up the field Most early speed here was displayed by Teenie whch raced away into a safe lead in the first quarter Little Guinea raced in clos ¬ est pursuit while Riot followed him close up Up and Down was many lengths back in fourth place and the remainder of the start ¬ ers were still further back and hopelessly beaten The same order of running was maintained until the field was Hearing the last eighth where Teenie began tiring badly ICcntinucd on twentieth page OFFDAY AT AURORA Continued from first page Little Guinea hard ridden then went to the inside of the leader and challenging her overtook and passed her into a good lead and kept it to the end easily holding Riot safe Riot and Up and Down easily out finished the tiring Teenie and took second and third places placesAnother Another mile contest in which ordinary ones started came sixth on the card H Wests Statler proved best and took into camp Brown Leaf Daddy WoTf and five others Statler was far behind the leaders for more than half the distance but released from restraint when in the stretch soon woru them down and passing Daddy Wolf and Brown Leaf seventy yards out easily held them safe to the end Brown Leaf and Daddy Wolf both raced into the lead at differ ¬ ent stages but were unable to hold their advantage and were vanquished by the ulti ¬ mate winners final rush Brown Leaf out ¬ stayed Daddy Wolf for second place near the finish after Daddy Wolf had taken the lead from Brown Leaf an eighth from the end
